Be your note
Remember the lips where wind-breath
originated, and let your note be clear.
Don't try to end it.
BE your note.
I'll show you how it's enough.
Go up on the roof at night
in this city of the soul.
Let everyone climb on their roofs
and sing their notes.
Sing loud!

I am a singer/songwriter from central Alberta, Canada. I happily play and sing solo or with others at gatherings from house concerts to coffee houses to festivals. I also write personal stories/songs, on commission as with Here's Cheers.

"Thank you for playing at the Cabin. It was great to have you play & to be able to accompany you! I heard many good comments afterwards about your songs & professionalism!" Tim Fraser, owner of Cabin Cafe, Calgary, Alberta

"Durand’s pretty voice fits with virtually any kind of music she puts her hand to- she knows much about writing real, authentic lyrics and tunes that reach the heart. She’s also a compelling storyteller through her music, a gift that really shines through..." Mark Weber, Red Deer Express

I am keenly interested in the creation and promotion of singer songwriters circles in this region and the global community:
1) to increase awareness of Prairies music
2) inspire peace and well being through sharing the perspective and uniqueness of others
The circle is wide and open...

Re: Songwriters Circle Series

“With the calibre of artists Donna Durand has lined up for these evenings and with the glimpse into the intimate environment of the songwriter these evenings provide, there is no doubt in our minds the Songwriters Circle at The Matchbox will be revered as one of the most premiere musical events in the province – no question,” said Stephen Ridge, owner of The Matchbox.

Off the floor recording... down to the wire 2nd song for demo. Once again the lovely Rory welcomed us in to his studio and got the job done in record time. Ha ha! We are plugging away at grant writing hoping to be able to record a compilation CD of 11 songs. We want the recording to be representative of a live performance. Check out Curtis's site curtisphagoo.fuzz.com to hear this great tune Picture in My Wallet. I am real happy to tell you that's me on the banjo! Ok, back to it...
I am having so much fun jammin with my new music friend Kaley. She has a real neat thing going on in her music and we held kids captive in kitchen to give a listen and THEY APPROVED!! We have a house party to play at Saturday night and really and truly there is nothing like a deadline to pull things together. My favorite thing so far is singing and playing the Rivers of Babylon- Kaley on classical guitar and very warm tones to her vocals and me on the banjo and harmonies. Rootsie reggae...

"A note from a man from the land of Rumi"

Hello dear Donna,

I simply liked what you do and felt cool by your songs. If I wanna chose I'd say, the guitar played is great. I wish to hear more from you in here and other places.

BTW, could you tell us more about the circle (leave us the link)?

Much love / Mehdi
